About The Opening Scene:

The scene starts of with showing the location of the film, from what we see it is obvious it is in a city in America. The camera then slowly shifts in to the main characters home which seems fairly vacant. From the little information I have seen is that this man is a very organised but quite boring who has the same routine every day.

The target audience for this film would be all ages over 16, I would say because it contains a large amount of bad language and violence. I can see this from the opening scene, because the soundtrack gives a mysterious and frightening feeling. This opening is very contrapuntal as not much is shown which will make the audience want to watch further. Therefore, not many key conventions have been shown as the genre it is (action). Only 1 character is shown and I can clearly see that this man has been in the forces for his past job because at the end of the scene we can see him timing how long he takes to get ready, which shows he is ready for whatever is coming for him. This shows that he finds himself in some type of danger.

In the scene there is use of non-diegetic sound (soundtrack) and also a use of diegetic sound (ambient sounds). I do find this a successful opening scene because most movies straight away give away the plot, where as in this movie it starts off calm, therefore, not knowing what will happen.
