Idea 1
Music Video Idea 1
In this post I will be demonstrating my first idea for my music video.
Song - No Hands
Artist - Joy Crookes
Music Video -

My first song idea is by a young artist called Joy Crookes, who originates from London. She is 19 years old and appeals to younger audiences around the ages 15-30. I chose this song because the beat of the song constantly changes which allows me to add in different performances within the video which will then attract a wider range of audiences as there is more going on.
I want my first idea to be spontaneous and fun to show the viewers that the artist is positive, this shows it will be suitable for younger audiences as no inappropriate language is seen in the lyrics. The song itself is very calming, this is why I want my artist to be laid back. For the first performance of the video I want my artist to be laying on a bed and the camera starting with an overhead shot of her just singing. The room will be fairly empty with only the bed to be seen. For the next shot I want the artist to leave that room and enter a new one where other girls will be seen dancing with her. I got this inspiration from a music video called 'Di Mi Nombre' by Rosalia.
I want the setting to be simple yet have many colours and give it a vintage effect. For costumes I want my artist to be wearing a long loose dress followed by some sneakers and jewellery. As for the others appearing in the video they will be wearing identical clothing that matches the setting and costume of the main artist. I love the vintage style of filming when it looks like it is from the old days, however, including all modern elements which will liven the video. Below is a photo of Solange's music video 'Cranes In The Sky', I am showing this part of it because the costumes are all the same and simple so that the artist is focused on.
More stylistic elements I would like to include in my video are different coloured backgrounds for each performance to enhance the positivity I want, followed by a grainy effect on the camera. I feel like the video i'm describing fits in with this specific track because of how relaxed it sounds which fits in with the artist laying on the bed just doing her own thing. As well as this, the video fits in with the star image of Joy Crookes as the music video i'm creating has sort of the same aesthetic as the artist. This can be seen from her actual music video to this track.
An artist that Joy Crookes is similar to is Jorja Smith. This is because both of their styles are similar both because of the grainy style of their music videos and the type of genre they are singing. I want my artist to have similar qualities like Jorja Smith because I enjoy most of her music videos and how they impact viewers even if there is no narrative.
