Why Create A Storyboard?

Why Create A Storyboard?

In this post I will be writing about why we create a storyboard for our music videos and how it helps us when filming.

ABOUT

Storyboards are visual and show exactly what is going to occur in the video. It shows the different camera movements and how we should frame the shots so that it makes the music video interesting to viewers. Storyboards are always in narrative order, therefore, it will not always result in how we end up filming it.

WHY

- We are creating a storyboard so it'll help us on the filming day on making sure that we have enough shots so that it doesn't get dull.
- It also helps the director plan exactly what they want to do and how they want it to look like.
- Storyboards will help before and after filming the music video. They are good for after filming because the editor can then visualise what he/she has to create. This is because they are usually not on the actual set, therefore, the storyboard helps them easily get together.
- For when we film the music video it will help us to know each shot we should capture so that we have enough footage. Also, whilst making the storyboard we will create new ideas throughout.
- An important reason why we do this is to show the cast exactly what position they should be in as it will make it easier and quicker.
