Audience Profiling
In this post I will be writing about how to achieve an audiences wants and needs and knowing what the target audience is for our own artist.
About Audience Profiling:
- Understanding your audience's wants and needs is very crucial to the media industry.
- It is useful for institutions and academics so they can build up detailed accounts of how audiences are constructed.
- The segmentation can be achieved either demographically and psychographically. Below I will explain both.
Demographic Segmentation:
- This is where an audience is segmented according to various significant social criteria. For example; gender, class, race, sexuality.
- Most common involves the JICNAR scale.
JICNAR scale —> The J O B always matters when looking at audiences.sale increases by (income, status/class, responsibility/influence, education).
Psychographic Segmentation:
- It is also known as lifestyle profiling.
- It combines a psychological profile of the consumer, with ideas about how they conduct their life in the market-place.
- VALS, the Values Attitudes and Lifestyles is the best known of the profiling systems.
VALs —> The ideology (values & beliefs).
Our Audience
Based on our similar products me and my group have decided on who our target audience is for our music video.
Primary Audience:
AGE - 18-20
GENDER - Girls
Secondary Audience:
AGE - 15-17
GENDER - Boys
