First Set Design Meeting

First Set Design Meeting

In this post I will be writing down what feedback we got and what we are going to do for the set design of our music video.

Below is an example of how we want the set to roughly look like:

Feedback We Received:

During this meeting we got several points of feedback that really helped us with making sure that the set will suit our aesthetic and plan. We firstly got told that we had to be more specific on what colours we wanted to use for the lava lamps like; if we only wanted two specific colours or if we would want a whole mixture of them. As well as this, we got the idea for the walls of using scraped off paint possibly with colours in it to match clothing and lava lamps. The main aspect our group have to think about is the whole colour palette, since we still do not know if we will be able to purchase all lava lamps as they are expensive. Therefore, we would have to find a smarter way to achieve the same look. They also told us to think about how much of the fluffy floor we would want in the set and that we wouldn't need it to cover the full thing. Mainly what was really helpful from this feedback was, that we could create the whole music video in that one set. By doing this, we would film all of the footage needed for the room with mattress, etc. After all of that is done we can move out certain objects and make the lighting darker which will make it look as if we created a new set which we will then use for the projections. This takes up much less time and it will still have an appealing effect onto the music video throughout. Also, we should start think about what the dancers are going to be doing during the filming for it not to get boring and dull.

Below is the email we sent to our set designer explaining what we need:

Another element we are including is the completely black set with the close up of a lava lamp perhaps on a stand where the dancers will come in and out of the darkness, whereas the artist will be in the centre of the frame, followed by using strobe lights. The lighting can be changed which will make the set look completely different without having to rebuild a whole new one.
