Test Shoot Feedback
Test Shoot Feedback
In this post I will be writing about the feedback me and my group received on our test shoot.
We showed our test shoot video to the class today and asked for any feedback they could give on what could be developed. Firstly, they told us that the concept is well thought out and captures the right vibe throughout following the fierceness of the actresses. A specific part in the test shoot that looked strange was the closeup of the artist's legs which came up straight after she was standing up, therefore, we should make sure on putting together the shots so that they make sense.
Another feedback point was when the girls are walking across from the camera to possibly get them out of the shot each time they walk in so that we don't see the dancer's awkwardly turning. In addition, the shot where all of them are laying down we need to always get the singer in the centre of the shot, as at the moment she isn't standing out from the others. Another point for this shot could be for the dancers, to keep their eyes shut as if they were asleep whilst the artist is singing looking straight to the camera. Also for when the movements come in from the dancers we should tone it down slightly because if not the attention will be drawn to them and not the artist. Therefore, we should either have the dancer's moving at all times and the artist isn't or, the dancer's aren't moving at all. Within the editing, if we are using fast and slow motion we should consider making it more of a feature or not including it at all because it could look randomly placed.
Furthermore, we got told that our cast looks great, however, they aren't dancers, therefore, we should limit the choreography parts and instead incorporate much more posing to use them as models in the background. What they liked a lot was when we kept the camera stationary and only changed the placement or movement a few times. In the test shoot we made it out so that it was moody and not happy, but then we should embrace their attitudes much more. For example; the shot where the artist is on the floor kicking her legs which looks very girly and not moody, so instead we should get her to sit in a certain way that makes her look tough. The moody look just suits best for our music video because of the cast we have by looking at their powerful features. We should also consider on different hairstyles and makeup for the singer so it looks more visually interesting as she won't have expressions on her face to do so.
For the camera shots, we should start thinking about differentiating the levels as most shots in the test shoot are quite flat. Meaning for example having close ups of each actress in different positions or spots and also thinking about the foreground/background in the framing.
