Research Into How To Make Fake Guns Look Real
In this post I will be writing about how to use fake weapons on camera with it looking as realistic as possible.
I am in charge of the props in our sequence and I was sent our to purchase realistic looking weapons to be on camera. Then I thought I could research on how to make a gun look realistic if I just had bought an average fake weapon. Here is what I found.

Ingredients:
- Spray paint (matte black)
- Spray paint (metallic silver)
- Sponge
Step By Step:
1. Firstly you get your gun and spray pain it in matte black to give it that effect.
2. After you've done this you then grab some metallic silver paint and a sponge.
3. You use any piece of paper and spray the silver paint.
4. Then you grab your sponge and wipe it over the paint to absorb this colour, however, not strongly.
5. On the edges you dab this sponge so that the gun starts creating a realistic effect (the paint will rub off on the places which stick out the most).
This website helped me on how to figure how to make a gun look realistic in films:
