Research Into Fake Blood

Research Into Fake Blood

In this post I will be writing about other alternatives on how to make fake blood by hand for it to look realistic on camera.

I was in charge of the props in our sequence and I purchased some fake blood. If that fake blood doesn't look realistic enough I researched into how to make fake blood easily and quickly if the one I bought isn't successful.

One method would be:

Ingredients:
- Water
- Corn syrup
- Food colouring (red, blue and green)
- Flour, cornstarch, or chocolate syrup

Step By Step:
1. Begin by combining one part water and three parts of corn syrup.
2. Then slowly add some drops of red food colouring.
3. Mix until desired shade is reached.
4. For more of a realistic blood colour add a few drops of blue or green.
5. After this, to be able to achieve the consistency of blood add either flour, cornstarch or chocolate syrup.

Second method would be:

Ingredients:
- Corn syrup
- Food colouring
- Cocoa powder
- Flour or cornstarch

Step By Step:
1. Begin by pouring corn syrup and combining it with some drops of red food dye.
2. After you can choose if you want to add drops of blue or green to achieve the blood colour you want.
3. After this, you will add a small amount of cocoa powder which will darken the blood and even make it edible.
4. Final step is to add flour or cornstarch to thicken the blood.
5. If blood is too thick all you have to do is add a bit of water to thin it out.

Ingredients I would have to purchase:
