PROPS - Why We Need Them
Why The Props We Have Chosen Are Needed
In this post I will be writing about why we chose the props for the opening sequence.
Chains
- This is for the captives who are three girls tied up in a line.
- This will create a large amount of tension as it is showing to the audience that these innocent three girls are trapped and can't escape.
- This also shows that it is a sci-fi as this type of game wouldn't usually happen in the real world.
Fake Blood
- We want to add fake blood on the girls to show they have been beaten and treated badly to create tension, and also to feel sorry for the girls.
- The fake blood will also clarify the genre of the film and make the audience interested towards watching the full thing.
- This is just to be seen in the opening sequence to show that not everything has to be used by the gun.
- This largely shows the horror as knives are usually shown in them and it demonstrated that the game master has a sick illness for hurting people in a way that will put someone through suffering and agony.
In the planning I am in charge of the purchasing and planning of the props. I discussed with the group if the props that are chosen are good for the sequence and we finally agreed.
Fake Gun
- This is to create tension and show that the game master is able to kill with no hesitation.
- It also gives the game master a strong and powerful look showing that people should be frightened of him.
- It is seen as when a gun is pictured it says something about the sequence and that it is a type of horror/action film.

Wine
- We chose to have wine as one of our scenes in the opening sequence is of the game master drinking wine whilst watching the captives.

- This is also shows that the game master is superior to the others.
- It also shows that the game master makes money in what he is doing which is an illegal and horrible game.
Fake Money
- We need the fake money so we can show that this is a game and that people enjoy seeing these girls being captured and suffering.
- This shows that the rest of the film is about these operations and how they make money in this horrific way.
