Film Review
In this post I will be writing about my favourite film and why it is my favourite.
I decided to choose the film ‘This is 40’ which I enjoyed very much. However, it was not my all time favourite film, because I do not have one, as I like to watch many new or old movies, as well as series. If I could choose what genre I like to watch most, it would be comedy by far.
This American comedy film was released on December 21st, 2012. The movie was filmed in and distributed by Universal Pictures. Universal Pictures is a large film company that is very known all over the world.
Jude Apatow, who is an American producer, writer, director and stand-up comedian. He wrote, produced and directed ‘This is 40’, which shows that he knows what he is doing and can do it very professionally. Nevertheless, Apatow was not the only producer of the film. The other producers were Barry Mendel (from the movie ‘Bridesmaids’) and Clayton Townsend (from the movie ‘Any given Sunday’).
Jude Apatow did though have the biggest part in it, as even the production company was his invention, ‘Apatow Productions’.
Some other films Apatow has directed are:
Knocked Up - Katherine Heigl & Seth Rogen
MAIN CAST
Paul Rudd
Leslie Mann
John Lithgow
Megan Fox
Melissa McCarthy
Jason Segel
Chris O’Dowd
Albert Brooks
WHERE AND WHEN?
- I do not remember exactly when I first saw it, because I am the type of person who likes to repeat films that I particularly like, which might sound weird to some of you, yet when I really do love a movie I can watch it several times.
- I’d rather rewatch a great movie than risk watching a new movie that most of the time is not great.
- I did not watch ‘This is 40’ in the cinema because I normally enjoy watching these types of movies at home with family, in my cozy living room for free rather than having to pay to watch it with many other people who will possibly interrupt and not make it worth while.
WHAT I LIKED & WHY?
- Firstly I liked how the movie is about the age 40s, which is most people’s nightmare to get to that age. This movie shows that, however, in a funnier, more interesting way.
- I also have seen how Jude Apatow’s movies are mostly to do with couples and how sometimes there can be problems between it, although, showing it in a charming, enjoyable way. This gives some of the people that have similar problems to maybe have a laugh about it and not take it too seriously.
- Another thing I adore in this movie is the use of many great, hilarious actors/actresses that I love. This made the movie even better than it is.
- This is the main reason to why movie makers always tend to find the characters who fit that role in the film. This makes the movie much more appealing to viewers rather than a random poorly trained actor/actress, who no one knows of, and might not act be of high quality.
